What is a community?

A community is defined as a group of people living in the same place (city, town or neighborhood) or having a particular characteristic in common (religion, race, culture, etc.). It could also be described as a unified body of individuals: such as the people with common interests who are working together and share in the same vision.

What do we need to build a community?

According to Forbes, strong communities have a sense of purpose. Each person has a role and each member understands how their work connects to others and adds value to the purpose Brower, T. (2020). As members of a community, people don’t just want to lay bricks, they want to see their works for years to come. We need leaders, businesses, and people who are not afraid to be the change they want to see. A thriving community has a sense of belonging, kinship, connectedness, and value.

There have been various nation wide studies conducted surrounding the subject of money circulating. Many have found that money circulates an average of one time in the African American community, six times in the Latino/ Hispanic community, and nine times in the Asian community. What’s most surprisingly is that when it comes to white neighborhoods, money circulates nearly an unlimited number of times.

How does the money circulate within the community?

Money circulates in the community when it is used through transactions between the customer and a business(s). The more money in circulation means the higher financial stability and potential for economic growth. A city, town or neighborhood can’t grow without money being spent in it. Money circulates by supporting local businesses and buying only within our own communities. If money is circulating at a higher rate, more opportunities can be developed within that community. More homes can be built. More schools and better education can be built, and the poverty level would be very little.
